How to Register for New Communication Compliance

This article will walk you through the process of setting up a Business Profile and registering for an A2P 10DLC.


  • Create Business Profile (Mainly your Business information)
  • Register for A2P 10DLC (More description on what your business is using texting for)

For CallRail users:

New compliance rules around text messaging go into effect in the fall of 2023. All businesses using numbers for outbound text messaging are required to register their business.

  1. To register for a Business Profile
    → Click here to fill out the initial registration form
  2. Fill in the necessary information:
    • Name
    • Address
    • Business information
    • Business website
    • Business type
    • Campaign description
    • Message samples
    • Opt-in and opt-out keywords
  3. Once submitted, CallRail Support team will keep you up to date on the status of your account’s registration.

I just opened an account. What do I need to do?

During your 14-day free trial

You’ll be unable to text during your 14-day free trial. 

After your 14-day trial

Once you’re ready to complete the Text Message Compliance Registration for your business, use → this link to begin the registration process. Registration requires a few pieces of business information. Once you submit this information, we will complete the registration for you.

Currently, CallRail is covering all registration costs to ensure customers who have submitted complete business information by July 31st, 2023. Fees incurred on behalf of your business, both one-time and recurring, will be added to your CallRail invoice starting in fall 2023.

What if I’m porting my numbers from another provider where I was registered for 10DLC?

Businesses need to be registered through their current texting vendor, so even if you’ve previously registered your number and business, you’ll need to register again with CallRail if you want to send text messages from any of your CallRail phone numbers.

How many times do I have to register?

Only one registration is required per CallRail account.

Will I receive a separate bill or invoice from TCR for registration and compliance?

No, CallRail will bill you for all fees associated with TCR and A2P 10DLC as part of your standard invoice.

For smrtPhone users

Log into the smrtPhone Trust Center in the left side menu and click the blue “Get Started” button at the bottom of the welcome screen.

(Take note: Only account owners can access Trust Center.)

1. The first step is to enter your business information

2. The second step is to enter the information of your main contact(s)

You must enter at least 1 representative.

The contact(s) that you choose need to be reachable by the email and phone number you provide. Do not enter false contact information or it will cause a problem in the verification process.

3. The final step is to agree to the Terms of Service.

4. Once all required fields are complete, the Submit for Review button activates and you can click it to finalize your business profile application.

5. If your profile is approved or rejected, you will receive an email letting you know. The status of your profile will show as Approved in the Trust Center.

Next steps after approval

Once your profile is approved several important things happen:

  • STIR/SHAKEN automatically enabled for all of your phone numbers (free)
  • Registration for A2P 10DLC becomes available
    • In the Trust Center, click Register Campaign on A2P Messaging.
    • Fill in the following information:
      • Business type
      • Campaign description
      • Message samples
      • Opt-in and opt-out keywords
  • Unlock international calling from your U.S. phone numbers
  • Purchase of non-U.S. Phone numbers becomes available. Some restrictions may apply, depending on the country
