Connect your Custom Domain Email
When you use Forefront, you have the option to allow it to use your customized domain. By doing so, you can set up multiple email addresses for private communications instead of using just one generic address. This feature makes it easier for you to send and receive emails with attachments using Forefront. With multiple email addresses, you can assign specific email addresses to different departments or individuals within your organization, which can help streamline communication and increase efficiency.
The use of a customized domain also adds a professional touch to your emails and gives your business a more personalized feel. Overall, allowing Forefront to use your customized domain can greatly enhance your email communication and improve your overall business operations.
Note: Just a heads up, anyone with access to Forefront can do the steps below. However, only the person who manages your domain’s DNS servers can add the necessary details. It’s best to let this person set up your email and provide them temporary access to your account to complete the setup, including the forwarding address for your email.
Here are the steps you can follow to get started
Step 1 – Access Settings & Custom Domain
Go to Settings > Email Settings

Next screen: Select the “custom domain”
(If you choose to setup Google workspace, click on this link)

Important: Custom domain email setup tip
- Forefront will not provide you with a custom domain
- Forefront will not provide you an email client
- Custom domains and email clients / providers are not included in your subscription. Your company must have its own custom domain
Step 2 – Enter your Custom Domain
Enter your custom domain for email setup after clicking on Custom Domain. For instance, in this example, we will use “webuyhouse.live” as our custom domain

After entering the domain name, click “Save Domain”. You will receive the necessary information to input into your custom domain and email provider.
You’ll find two sections:
- DNS Records – This article lists popular domain providers and their instructions for adding DNS records to their systems. (How to add DNS Records)
- Email Addresses – Enter email address(es) for you and your team members after successful DNS verification.
Important: Note that each domain provider has its own process for adding DNS records, which may differ in design and interface. If you encounter difficulties, seek technical assistance or reach out to your provider’s support team.

Step 3 – Verify DNS
After adding Forefront’s DNS records to your Domain Host/Provider, click “Verify DNS.” A notification at the bottom of Forefront will confirm whether the verification was successful and if the Email Addresses section is accessible.
Note: DNS record changes typically take around an hour to update, but it can take up to 24 hours to reflect the changes

Step 4 – Enter Email Addresses
You can now begin adding information for the email address(es) to be used in the system.
Note: As previously mentioned, you must have an email client/provider to proceed. If you already have one, select the first option.

If you do not have one set up yet, select the second option and follow the links that will be provided below:

After setting up the email client/provider, you can begin adding email address(es) on the second line. Once saved, the third field for the email forwarder will become available.

To complete the third option, add Forefront’s forwarding email address. This will enable emails to flow directly from your email to Forefront.
Note: Emails will only be stored in Forefront if you proceed, as stated in the QuickStart guide. Setting up an email forwarding address varies among companies. We’ve created a brief article on how to set this up with the most popular email providers/clients.
Step 5 – Setting up Forwarding Address
If you are using Gmail for your custom domain, please follow these steps to set up email forwarding correctly.
To set up email forwarding, go to the appropriate Gmail account and click the settings icon in the upper right corner of the screen. Then click “See all settings.”

To add a forwarding address from Forefront to your Gmail account, open your settings and click “Add a forwarding address.” Then paste the forwarding address into the prompt and click “Proceed.” A new window will appear with the code provided by Gmail.
You can find this code in Forefront, in the same place as the forwarding address. Copy and paste the code into the text box in Gmail and click “Verify.”

Before exiting Gmail, remember to turn on email forwarding, as it’s turned off by default. After turning on forwarding, make sure to click “Save changes” at the bottom of the screen.

Finally, all you need to do is click verify in Forefront and wait for the verification process to finish.
Each email address and person added to the system will have a unique forwarding address. Each person using that email address must add the forwarding address according to their own process.
After setting up the forwarding email, you need to verify that it works correctly. Simply click “Verify” next to the forwarding address to do so

Clicking “Verify” will initiate the 3-5 minute verification process. You’ll receive an email from Forefront to confirm successful verification. If no email is received, it indicates a failed verification and you should re-check your set-up.

After completing the set-up, create a sample lead and send an email to test it out.
Here’s a pro tip after setting up your email, click “Verify DNS” after making any changes to DNS records or adding email addresses.
Note: DNS should all be VERIFIED FIRST If you receive a bounce-back error when replying to your test email, meaning the DNS settings are still syncing. Give it some time, usually within 1-24 hours. If you’re still having issues after 24 hours, reach out to us. Remember to verify all DNS settings as mentioned in this article before reaching out to your Domain host/provider.
